Clifford Lions induct new members

The Clifford and  District Lions Club met on Oct.1 at the Clifford Fire Station Board Room. Guests included Zone 7 chair Lisa Gillespie, past district governor Bill Chalmers, past zone chair Elaine Chalmers, Sheila Campbell, and Margaret Penfound.

Zone Chair for Zone 7 Lisa Gillespie of the Lucknow Lions gave a presentation on the Lions International president’s theme of “Dignity, Harmony, and Humanity” and spoke on District A-9 governor Jo-Anne Klonikowski’s theme of “Have you Herd about Lions”

President Fay Binkley presented Gillespie with a daily journal, club pin, and Clifford Lions friendship banner for her official visit to the club.

Sheila Campbell sponsored by Lion Ivan Campbell and Margaret Penfound sponsored by Lion Judy Worsley were inducted as new members in a candlelight ceremony service.

In other business, the Clifford Lions will continue their Adopt-a-Road program in the spring. The club has received from Lions Foundation Canada two books of 25 tickets for a Maple Leaf’s weekend. Nov. 17 is Hank Van Moorsel’s roast in Tiverton.

In lieu of their November regular meeting, the club will attend the Town of Minto’s Volunteer Appreciation Evening on Nov. 5 at the Palmerston Arena, followed by a brief club meeting.

Children 12 and under are invited to bring their completed pumpkins to the Clifford Fire Station at 10am on Oct. 31 for the annual Clifford Lions Hallowe’en Pumpkin Carving Contest. Every entry receives a prize. Judging starts at 11am.
