Police investigating after Erin fire deemed ‘suspicious’

ERIN – Police are investigating after a Sideroad 10 fire in Erin on Sept. 15 was deemed suspicious. Over 30 firefighters from both the Hillsburgh and Erin fire stations responded to the call.

Metroland Media Group declares bankruptcy, moves to online-only model

TORONTO – Hundreds of people have lost their jobs and more than 70 weekly newspapers will cease publication after Metroland Media Group announced on Friday it is declaring bankruptcy. The move to an online-only model involves laying off 605 employees, including 68 journalists.

Jury deliberating in week-long Michael Hurst sexual assault trial

GUELPH – A 12-member jury for the trial of Palmerston resident Michael Hurst, who is charged with five counts of sexual assault, began deliberating on Sept. 18. Last week, Hurst and two woman testified before the jury.
