Arrest in copper wire theft
GUELPH – A Guelph man was arrested last week after thousands of dollars in copper wire was stolen from a west-end business.
Just before 7am on April 9 staff of a business on Speedvale Avenue West reported two suspects were on the property. Guelph Police officials say the suspects were confronted and left the area.
“A couple of hours later, staff called back after discovering approximately $7,000 worth of copper wire had been stolen,” police stated in a press release. “Officers reviewed security camera footage and recognized one of the men.”
At about 2pm the man was located and arrested. During a search officers located 30 .22-calibre rounds of ammunition, police say.
A 46-year-old Guelph man was charged with break and enter, careless storage of ammunition, breach of probation and failing to attend court. He was held for a bail hearing.
