Advertiser receives OCNA award nominations

The Advertiser and its sister publication The Community News have received a combined six nominations for the Ontario Community Newspapers Association’s (OCNA) annual awards.

On Feb. 14 the OCNA announced the finalists for its 2017 Better Newspaper Competition.

“The OCNA is proud to recognize the outstanding work produced each week by our member Newspapers and showcase it to readers and advertisers,” officials stated in the OCNA announcement.

The Wellington Advertiser is one of three finalists for the following OCNA premier awards:

– best special section (circulation over 10,000), for its broadsheet Canada 150 feature in May (above left);

– best local retail layout;

– best in-house promotion; and

– best community website (circ. over 10,000) for wellingtonadvertiser.com.

The Community News is a finalist for best creative ad (above right) and best original ad idea.

The full list of finalists can be found at www.ocna.org. First, second and third place winners will be announced during the OCNA gala on April 20 in Toronto.
