UELPH – Michael (Mike) Glazier will be the new director of education at Wellington Catholic District School Board (WCDSB) on Sept. 1.

Glazier will replace outgoing director Tamara Nugent, who announced her retirement in January.

“The board of trustees is very excited to welcome Mike into his new role,” said board chair Marino Gazzola.

“During his five years at Wellington Catholic, Mike has proven himself to be a leader grounded in compassion, hard work and an unwavering commitment to our faith-based education system.”

“It is an honour to have this opportunity to serve,” said Glazier.

“I am proud of the work the board is undertaking and look forward to building upon the many successes of director Nugent and continuing to support the academic and faith development of our students.

“I hope to serve the Wellington Catholic community well and am committed to working with our trustees, staff, students, families and parish partners in support of our shared goal of excellence in Catholic education.”

Glazier has a bachelor of arts and bachelor of education degree from the University of Windsor and a masters of education from Charles Sturt University in Australia.

In 2017, he completed the Executive Leadership Program from the Rotman School of Management.

Before working at WCDSB, he was a principal and superintendent of education with the London District Catholic School Board. Before that, Glazier taught in both elementary and secondary schools and was a curriculum support teacher.

He serves on the leadership council of the Guelph Wellington Local Immigration Partnership, the Career Education Council and is an active member of his parish family.

“This leadership transition is moving the board from strength to strength, “ said Gazzola.

“Wellington Catholic is indebted to outgoing director Tamara Nugent for the vision, commitment and faith she led the board with. She has been a gift to our Wellington Catholic community and will be instrumental in supporting a seamless transition in leadership as our team prepares for school reopening.”
