Volunteer engagement focus of workshops planned in Minto and Wellington North

Cultural Roundtable groups in Minto and Wellington North are teaming up, along with the Mount Forest Chamber of Commerce, to host a series of four workshops for community organizations to support volunteers and to build volunteer engagement capacity.

“Organizations that are looking to access information, resources and tools that will help them recruit and retain volunteers should plan to attend these sessions,” said Wellington North tourism, marketing and promotions manager April Marshall.

The workshops include:

-Volunteer Recruitment, June 7 at 6pm at the Harriston library;

– Maintaining a Quality Volunteer Program, Oct. 5 at 6pm Mount Forest Library; and

– Pulling it all Together, Nov. 2 at 6pm at the Harriston Library.

Registration is $20 per session, or $15 per session for those attend all four, and includes a light dinner.

The sessions will be facilitated by Reva Cooper, a trainer and consultant specializing in effective volunteer management. She was the founding executive director of the Volunteer Action Centre of Kitchener-Waterloo and Area, and is currently co-coordinator of the Volunteer Management Certificate Program at Conestoga College.

“We are thrilled to partner with the Township of Wellington North and the Mount Forest Chamber of Commerce to bring Reva Cooper to our community and provide these resources to assist our volunteer organizations in sustaining their operations” said Minto economic development manager Belinda Wick-Graham.

Those wanting to register can contact the Town of Minto at 519-338-2511 ext. 241 or the Mount Forest Chamber of Commerce at 519-323-4480.
