Upper Credit Humane Society Empty Bowls Soupfest

In more ways than one local residents came out for seconds at this year’s Empty Bowls Soupfest for the Upper Credit Humane Society.
This year marked the second year the event was held at Erin’s Centre 2000.
Fundraising chair Laura Boardman explained 10 local restaurants donate soup.
With the price of admission, those taking part get four tickets to sample four of the soups – but there is also the opportunity to purchase extra soup.
In addition, the event hosted several vendors and a silent auction.
The idea came about because of the number of them operated as local fundraisers.
“So we thought we’d do one here in Erin. Last year was the first one and over 100 people came.”
She estimated this year’s response from the community as being similar if not more.
“All the money raised goes to support the animals because the organization is not government funded.”
She added all the restaurants involved have been gracious enough to provide the soup – some owners were serving while other stations made use of volunteers.
Boardman noted Ontario Kids for Peace wanted to take part by providing a bake sale.
