Two local blood donors are being recognized for helping to save up to 300 lives.
Kevin Bowman and Cleon Gingrich, both Mapleton Township residents, have each made at least 50 donations in their lifetime.
Because each unit of blood can potentially save up to three lives, the duo may very well have been responsible for saving 300 lives through their combined donations.
Earlier this month, Canadian Blood Services held its 12th annual donor recognition ceremony in Kitchener. The event honours community partners and residents who have given stem cells or bone marrow, or who have achieved milestones of 50, 75, 100 and 150 donations of blood.
This year 300 donors were recognized with certificates of appreciation for helping to meet the needs of patients across Canada.
Bowman and Gingrich, who were both unavailable for comment, join Clifford Martin, Willard Bowman and Richard and Linda Brimblecombe as Mapleton residents recognized in the last two years by?Canadian Blood Services.
All have made at least 50 donations, except Richard Brimblecombe, who has made over 75.
