Wellington North residents charged in drug bust

Police seized close to $400,000 in drugs and over $125,000 in stolen property

WELLINGTON NORTH – Two local residents have been charged after police seized close to $400,000 worth of drugs and over $125,000 of stolen property in a drug bust here last week.

Grey Bruce OPP officers, joined by officers from Wellington County and West Region, as well as the region's canine unit, executed search warrants at an address in Wellington North on Aug. 18 and 21.

"Two individuals have been placed under arrest without incident, and police seized controlled substances worth an estimated potential street value of $397,745, alongside offence related property worth approximately $6,780," the OPP stated in an Aug. 26 press release.

"Police also recovered stolen property worth an estimated value of $127,500, which is connected to several neighbouring jurisdictions."

Bryce Shaw and Autum Shaw, of Wellington North, were each charged with:

  • 1o counts of possession of property obtained by crime;
  • unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon;
  • unauthorized possession of a firearm; and
  • seven counts of possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine, methamphetamine, fentanyl, MDMA, hydromorphone, ketamine and codeine).

Bryce Shaw was also charged with three counts of possession of a firearm/ammunition contrary to prohibition.

Both individuals were held for a bail hearing.
