Tour de Elora to continue a little differently this year
Tour de Elora - While Tour de Elora won’t be a traditional bike-a-thon this year Elora Fitness and Performance Centre and the RT Health Company is offering a remote option asking participants to bike/walk/run and help them reach a combined 10,000km goal. Advertiser file photo

ELORA - Elora Fitness and Performance Centre and RT Health Company are presenting the 2nd Annual Tour de Elora Fundraiser, with all proceeds going to support the Grand River Cancer Centre.

Due to COVID-19, the traditional stationary bike-a-thon will not be held in-person this year.

“Instead, we will be holding the 10 for 10,” officials said in a press release.

“We are aiming to collectively reach 10,000km logged through walking, running or cycling and raise $10,000 to help support the Grand River Cancer Centre.”

How it works:

- each time participants bike/walk/run for the month of October they log the number of kilometres completed on the website;

- each participant’s kilometres will be added to the group goal of 10,000km;

- prizes will be awarded to the individual who logs the most kilometers;

- participants are asked to encourage friends and family to support them by making a donation online to support the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre;

- there is a special competition for businesses this year to compete for the Tour de Elora Cup. The business with the largest average kilometres per participant will win the cup.
