ABERFOYLE – Puslinch resident Bruce Taylor is feeling deflated, but not defeated, after complaints he lodged with the township integrity commissioner and the Ontario Ombudsman were deemed not to require further investigation.

MINTO – The Town of Minto will implement “best practice” recommendations from Ontario’s Ombudsman Paul Dube regarding procurement policies and citizen complaints after receiving a letter from the government watchdog in response to a complaint to his office.

PUSLINCH – Guy Giorno did his best to convince Puslinch council to keep him on as integrity commissioner, but in the end, council passed a bylaw appointing Aird & Berlis LLP as the integrity commissioner for the township for the next four years.

WELLINGTON NORTH – Jeffrey Abrams and Janice Atwood-Petkovski of Toronto-based Principles Integrity were appointed by council on Sept. 26, with the change taking effect on Jan. 1.

CENTRE WELLINGTON – Integrity commissioner Guy Giorno has found that Centre Wellington councillor Steven VanLeeuwen did not contravene the Municipal Conflict of Interest Act when he participated in council’s decision last summer not to designate a bridge as a property of cultural heritage value.

ERIN – An Erin citizen has apologized and resigned from his committee roles for breaking the Code of Conduct for councils and local boards.

ELORA – Integrity commissioner Guy Giorno has found that an email sent to select residents in June by Centre Wellington councillor Stephen Kitras did not contravene the code of conduct as alleged by Mayor Kelly Linton.

ELORA – In a series of bizarre events, two Centre Wellington councillors walked out of a council meeting on Monday after their peers broke with protocol in order to defeat an unorthodox motion that questioned the performance of the township’s CAO.
