Superstars Show bright at New York Competition

Six members of the Superstars Baton Club competed in the annual New York Championship Competition the weekend of April 24 to 26. Approximately 120 athletes from the U.S. and Ontario were present.

Alyssa George, 11, of Fergus received two first place finishes in her Intermediate solos, first and second in her Beginner Struts and first in Beginner 2Baton. She won the Intermediate Can-Am Pre-Teen Majorette Pageant.

Hayleigh Homer, 12, of Fergus was second and thirdin her Beginner solos, first in Basic March, third in Beginner 2Baton, second and sixth in her Novice X-Struts and third in Intermediate Rose Queen.  She was also third in the Beginner Can-Am Majorette Pageant.

Paige Johnston, 7, of Arthur was second in Beginner Basic March, 1st and 5th in her Beginner Solos, second and third in her Novice Strut and second in the Beginner Can-Am Majorette Pageant. Paige won the Juvenile Beginner Rose Queen Modeling.

Skylar Irwin, 12, of Arthur was first in Novice Solo and third in Basic March.  

Elsie Post, 9, of Arthur was first in Intermediate 2baton, Intermediate Strut, and Intermediate solo and second in the Novice Rose Queen Modeling and won the Intermediate Juv Can-Am Majorette Pageant.

Makenzie Worton, 13, of Fergus first and third in Beg Strut, third in Beg Solo, and first in Beginner 2Baton.  She was second in the Beginner Can-Am Majorette Pageant.

 The duet team of Homer and Irwin placed first for theNovice duet performance while duet team of George and Worton placed second in the Beginner duet performance.

The team “Conga” also received a first place finish out of seven other teams – members include: Homer, George, Irwin, and Post.   

The twirlers are trained by Krista DiStasi of Fergus.  The club will be hosting their annual year end showcase on May 24 at the Arthur Public School starting at 1pm. Everyone is welcome to attend for an afternoon of entertainment.
