WELLINGTON COUNTY – The Learning Disabilities Association of Wellington County’s Reading Rocks program is set to begin again in January.
The free eight-week one-on-one virtual literacy program supports children’s literacy skills in the areas of phonics, fluency and sight words.
Children are matched with a trained tutor who adapts a poster board workstation and literacy program according to the child’s specific needs.
It is funded through a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
The program is aimed at children aged six to 12 who have a learning disabilities or are struggling to read.
There are two different program options:
– Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30 to 7:30pm, beginning Jan. 18; and
– Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 7:30pm, beginning Jan.19.
The eight-week programs and run until the week of March 8.
However, no programs will run during the week of Feb. 15 to 18.
