Public comment sought on changes in areas regulated by GRCA

The Grand River Conservation Authority is seeking public comments on proposed changes in those areas that are regulated by the GRCA.

The GRCA helps to protect natural areas such as rivers, streams, flood plains, wetlands, steep slopes, and the Lake Erie shoreline by regulating construction, grading, alteration, and development activities in and near those areas. That is done through Ontario regulations under the Conservation Authorities Act.

The GRCA maintains maps showing areas it regulates.

As a result of recent studies, the GRCA has brought those maps up to date and made changes that affect land in various parts of the watershed. In some locations, the regulated area was reduced, and in other locations it was enlarged.

More information, including maps showing the changes, is available on the GRCA website at www.grandriver.ca in the Planning and Regulations section.

Members of the public are invited to comment on the draft changes to the regulatory maps. They can do so by:

– attending an open house on June 3 from 3 to 8pm at the GRCA head office, 400 Clyde Road, Cambridge; or by

– sending written comments to planning@grandriver.ca or by fax to (519) 621-4945. A comment form is available on the GRCA website.
