Police seek information about suspicious car fire near Elora

Police are seeking information about a suspicious car fire here last week.
On Aug. 30 at about 10:30am members of the Wellington County OPP officers and Centre Wellington firefighters responded to a car fire off Wellington Road 21, west of Elora.
Police say a Nissan four-door sedan was driven off the road and into a wooded area of the Pilkington outlook of the Grand River Conservation Authority.
Centre Wellington Fire Rescue deputy chief Jonathan Karn said the Elora station responded to the blaze with six firefighters.
Karn noted the call was updated to include some of the bush being on fire as well, so the tanker from the Fergus responded to provide additional water.
A total of nine firefighters were on scene for about one hour.
Karn explained a trail can be accessed from the rear of the outlook parking lot and it appears the vehicle was driven a short distance down that trail. When fire crews arrived the vehicle was completely engulfed, but none of the surrounding bush had ignited, said Karn.
Wellington OPP report no one was injured but the car is considered a total loss. Police are treating the fire as suspicious.
