MAPLETON – On July 31 at about 11:45pm, Wellington County OPP officers were conducting a RIDE program at the intersection of Wellington Road 7 and Sideroad 3.

“A motorist entered the spot-check exhibiting signs of impairment and officers observed cannabis inside their vehicle,” police stated in a press release.

A 32-year-old East York man was charged with driving while impaired by alcohol and drugs, driving with cannabis readily available and care or control of a vehicle with cannabis in open packaging.

He is to appear in Guelph court on Sept. 11. 

WELLINGTON NORTH – On Aug. 2 at about 6:45pm, Wellington County OPP officers responded to a single-vehicle collision into a fence along Sideroad 5 East.

A 63-year-old Mount Forest woman was charged with dangerous driving, driving while impaired by alcohol and drugs and driving with more than 80mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood in her system. She is to appear in Guelph court on Sept. 8.

MORRISTON – On Aug. 6 at about 1:15pm, Wellington County OPP officers responded to a traffic complaint here.

Police say “a fully loaded dump truck full of gravel (was) swerving and crossing the centre line, almost striking oncoming traffic near Queen Street.” 

A 27-year-old Brampton man was charged with driving  over 80mg and is to appear in Guelph court on Sept. 18.

In the above incidents the driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for seven days.
