GUELPH/ERAMOSA – A Kitchener driver has been charged following a three-vehicle crash here last week.
Emergency crews responded to the scene, at the intersection of Paisley Road and Township Road 1 in Guelph/Eramosa, on June 18 at about 5:30pm.
“One driver was taken to hospital with minor, non-life-threatening injuries, and the other two drivers were not injured,” police stated in a press release.
A 28-year-old driver from Kitchener was charged with failing to yield to traffic on a highway.

Vehicle safety blitz
ERIN – Local police removed 20 vehicles from the road and laid over 60 charges during a commercial vehicle safety blitz here last week.
Wellington County OPP officials say police worked with five other agencies during the June 16 blitz “to ensure safety is kept at the forefront on our roads.”
Also taking part were the Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of Finance, Guelph Police Service, Halton Regional Police Service and the West-Region OPP TIME team.
OPP officials say the blitz resulted in :
– 37 inspections;
– 20 vehicles being put out of service;
– 61 charges;
– 52 warnings;
– three plate seizures;
– one tow truck impounded; and
– three charges for fuel tax offences.
“This collaborative enforcement initiative focused on identifying unsafe vehicles, unfit drivers, and non-compliance with commercial vehicle regulations,” police stated in a press release.
“While [commercial vehicles] play a critical role in our economy, they also come with unique safety challenges.
“The goal of the [safety blitz] is to reduce accidents, protect lives and keep our highways safe for all drivers.
“Remember – If you see something unsafe on the road, report it.”
Police are also reminding all commercial vehicle operators to ensure their vehicles are properly maintained and meet all safety standards.
One driver, nine charges
ERIN – A Georgetown resident, one of dozens of drivers charged in a commercial vehicle safety blitz here last week, is himself facing nine charges.
Wellington County OPP officers pulled over a vehicle during the blitz on Wellington Road 124 in Erin on June 16 at about 9:30am.
A 20-year-old from Georgetown is charged with: driving with a defective braking system, driving without a licence, failing to display two plates, driving without a permit, driving with an improperly secured load and four other charges.
“If you have an urgent traffic complaint or if you suspect someone is driving while their ability to operate a motor vehicle is impaired by drugs or alcohol, please call 911 immediately,” police stated.

Partner violence
WELLINGTON COUNTY – Local police continue to lay intimate partner violence charges across the county.
Those arrested include a 39-year-old from London, who was charged with spousal assault in relation to an incident in Rockwood on June 22.
The accused individual is to appear in Guelph court at a later date.
