Ontario auctioneers converge for Guelph convention on Feb. 18

The Auctioneer’s Association of Ontario is having their annual Convention here from Feb. 18  to 20 at the Holiday Inn and Conference Centre.

The weekend is full with professional speakers, a fun auction and the Ontario Auctioneer’s Championship.

The founders of the Canadian Personal Property Appraisers Group John McKenzie and Jim Snider are speaking Feb. 18 on the appraisal industry in Canada.

Feb. 19 will be a full day starting at 9am with Norm Bowley of Ottawa speaking on Estates and Succession. Social media expert Stacey Maynard of Oakville, will be speaking on Social Media Marketing. Jeff Christian of Bolton, ON is founder of ‎Christian & Co, Chartered Accountants and is presenting accounting and family planning for small businesses.

The day will be finish with motivational speaker Paul Marchildon speaking on how to love what you do and how a different outlook can grow a small business.

The Fun Auction, beginsat 7:30pm with great auction prizes and auctioneers performing from all over the country.

On Feb. 20, the Annual Ontario Auctioneer’s Championship will begin at 10am at Parr’s Auction at 6866 Highway 6, three miles north of Fergus.

 Auctioneers come to compete from all over Canada in the novice, women’s and experienced categories.

The Grand Prize for the Ontario Auctioneer Championship is $1000 donated by Adesa.

The winning champions and runners up will be honored at the presidents banquet at Holiday Inn in Guelph at 6pm.

The Auctioneers Association of Ontario is a volunteer group of professionals who strive to bring a consistency and sound business practices to the auction industry through a standard code of ethics and bylaws.
