Ontario announces seniors community grant recipients

Ontario is investing up to $13,990 in three projects in Guelph and Wellington County through the Seniors Community Grant program, which will help seniors stay connected, active and engaged in their communities.

The funding, announced earlier this year supports local projects including:

– Up to $8,000 for the City of Guelph, which will enhance the volunteer program at the Evergreen Seniors’ Centre by assisting in developing orientation and training for volunteers as well as enhancing the database for volunteer management;

– Up to $2,990 for the Guelph Wellington Seniors’ Association, which will facilitate the work with a professional to develop a plan, framework and toolbox of skills for 60 volunteer-led activity group leaders; and

– Up to $3,000 for the Volunteer Centre of Guelph Wellington which will install a computer kiosk at the Evergreen Seniors’ Centre, featuring the Volunteer Centre’s dedicated seniors’ website.
