New exhibition at Headwaters Arts Gallery

ALTON – Headwaters Arts Gallery is pleased to present Light-Colour-Texture, an exquisite members art show featuring over 30 works by three extremely talented Headwaters Arts members: painter Marnie Cooke;  glass artist Kathryn Thomson; and wood turner Brian Parrot.

Each artist shares their special method of working with their chosen medium.

Kathryn Thomson uses light and texture to create ethereal blown glass bowls, vases and sandblasted sculptural works.

Marnie Cooke, a contemporary interpretive artist,  creates magical, colourful impressions of beauty, mystery and fantasy using acrylics on canvas and wood.

Brian Parrott, a one-of-a-kind wood turner, interprets the beauty of wood through texture and form to create practical works with a flair.

“The juxtaposition of these three very different mediums is sure to excite the viewer as they experience the unique yet complimentary works of art displaying light, colour, and texture of paint, glass and wood,” said Cooke.

All artists will be in attendance at an opening reception on Saturday, July 8, from 1 to 4pm in the Headwaters Arts Gallery at the Alton Mill Arts Centre in Alton.

Light-Colour-Texture runs from July 5 until Aug. 7 in the Headwaters Arts Gallery.

The Headwaters Arts Gallery is open Wednesday-Sunday, 10am to 5pm, at the  Alton Mill Arts Centre at 1402 Queen St. W.
