ABERFOYLE – Puslinch council refused to endorse a telecommunications tower application on Feb. 28 following a heated discussion with a delegation.

PUSLINCH – Township staff recently removed 52 Hicks yew plants it had just planted in Boreham Park after resident Bruce Taylor informed staff and council that the plants are poisonous and a potential danger to children and pets if ingested.

PUSLINCH – The sudden closure of the Paddock Bridge last May is wreaking havoc on Puslinch roads, causing council here to worry the township won’t be properly compensated by Wellington County.

PUSLINCH – If Puslinch residents don’t like the 4.1 per cent tax increase for 2024 approved by council on Feb. 7, well, it could have been worse.

WELLINGTON COUNTY – More than 10,000 students in Wellington County, Dufferin County and Guelph don’t have up-to-date immunization records and are running the risk of being suspended from school.

PUSLINCH – The property tax increase in Puslinch is currently sitting at 4.1% for every property type and even though there was some grumbling about it at a public meeting on Jan. 17, that number is unlikely to change.

PUSLINCH – Puslinch residents are catching on to recycling in a big way. Results of a pilot program with recycling bins in public places indicate an 80 per cent recovery rate for beverage containers which is high, and a 30% contamination rate, which is low.

PUSLINCH – A damning report by Ontario’s Auditor General on the state of the aggregate industry echoes concerns raised for decades by Puslinch council and its citizens. Namely, there is not enough compliance by aggregate operators and not enough oversight by the Ministry of Natural Resources.
