Jr. B goalie registers rare last-second goal

It is not uncommon for lacrosse goalies to score an open-net goal, but Elora Mohawk Jr. B goalie Nolan Clayton accomplished a truly rare feat on June 7.

With his team leading the Welland Generals 7-6 at home with just seconds remaining in the game, Clayton picked up the ball and fired it down the floor in the direction of two Mohawk players.

“Our players could not get to it and it short-bounced right in front of the startled Welland goalie and into the net with two seconds left on shot clock,” team officials stated.

The Mohawks are currently in first place in the MidWest Ontario division, with 24 points, just ahead of rivals the Orangeville Northmen.

Their next home game is on June 14 at 7pm versus the Point Edward Pacers.
