Informed Democracy series exploring climate change

GUELPH – Climate change is the topic of the fourth and final Informed Democracy series hosted by the Guelph Wellington Coalition for Social Justice in the lead-up to the provincial election in June.

The virtual session is slated for April 20 from 7 to 8:30pm.

Panellists include:

– Dr. Dianne Saxe, former Commissioner of the Environment for Ontario, and currently the Assistant Leader of the Green Party of Ontario;

– Richard Prophet, chair of the RTOERO;

– Dr. Rene Van Acker, Dean of the Ontario Agricultural College and chair of the Department of Plant Agriculture; and

– Thomas McIlwraith, a Grade 12 student at John F. Ross Secondary School and a climate and environmental activist.

Panellists will talk about climate change, global warming, the greening of Ontario and the importance of getting off fossil fuels.

“We need to improve our environment by decreasing our dependence on plastics, improving re-cycling, protecting our greenbelt, and preserving our water supply,” organizers state in a press release.

“We need to preserve our environment for succeeding generations.

“Can we afford to leave it up to the next government?”
