Hikers should hide valuables
Hikers are heading back to the vast trail systems in Wellington County.
Unfortunately, in the past, criminals have taken advantage of this, and smashed the windows of parked vehicles to grab valuables inside, police say.
Wellington County OPP is reminding residents to lock vehicles and leave valuables at home or place them in the trunk so they are safely out of sight of would-be criminals.
People using the walking trails are requested to note any suspicious persons, take note of any associated vehicles and licence plates and call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
