Groves hospital ranked in top 10% in Canada for inpatient care

Groves Memorial Community Hospital (GMCH) has scored in the top 10% of Canadian hospitals for acute inpatient care.

The achievement, announced as part of a recently released National Research Corporation Canada (NRCC) report, is based on overall satisfaction and likelihood of patients recommending GMCH to family and friends.

The purpose of the survey is to highlight excellent performance based on patient perceptions, and to identify those hospitals that may have good practices in place that others may be interested in learning.

“Despite working in an old hospital facility widely acknowledged as inadequate, the Groves team has achieved world class patient satisfaction ranked among the best in the country,” GMCH board chair Paul Smith said in a May 6 press release.

“We achieved this high level of patient satisfaction with the support of our physicians, staff, volunteers, foundation, board and health care partners. It is the increasingly well integrated team work of all of these contributors that enables Groves hospital to be a leader in the provision of excellent, compassionate rural health care.”

The full report is available on the NRCC’s website at www.nationalresearch.ca.

GMCH is a rural, acute-care facility providing a wide range of services to a local and regional population of over 34,500, treating over 68,000 people annually. The hospital currently operates 44 beds, with over 277 staff, 84 medical staff and 254 volunteers support.
