Grants awarded in Perth-Wellington riding

STRATFORD – Municipalities in the riding of Perth-Wellington will receive $12-million in new infrastructure funding for roads and bridges, expanded public transit, and other projects Perth-Wellington MPP John Wilkinson announced on Monday.

Municipalities will be able to proceed with key infrastructure priorities soon because of changes made to the Investing in Ontario Act. Any surplus over $600-million at the province goes to infrastructure funding in municipalities.

In the Wellington part of Wilkinson’s riding, grants were:

– $623,955 for Wellington North;

– $550,030 for Mapleton;

– $474,820 for Minto; and

– $3,360,585 for Wellington County.

“I am particularly pleased that all the communities within my riding will benefit from this special funding,” Wilkinson said. “It will be a great boost for our local economy.”
