On May 24, councillor Mary Lloyd announced that recently the Centre Wellington Foodbank and the Social Justice Committee joined forces to form the Centre Wellington Alliance for Good Food.

That group encompasses all of the gardens available locally in Centre Wellington where residents can grow their own food.

Lloyd said that upon application for a grant, the group received $3,500 to help go into the community gardens to make them more accessible, more user-friendly and easier to find.

“I think this is a real good News story,” Lloyd added. She said “there are many caring individuals in Centre Wellington who want to grow food to donate to the food bank as well as those who have plots of land available for individuals to use to grow their own food.”
