Fergus mad about plaid on Tartan Day
Tartan Day – Though Tartan Day is officially recognized on April 6, the Fergus BIA and Fergus Scottish Festival celebrated the town’s Scottish heritage early, with a host of activities in downtown Fergus on April 2. Archery and caber tossing demonstrations for children were held in the parking lot of the TD Bank. Sandra Zelth from Fergus was among those who tried their luck with the bow and arrow. Tartan Day in North America is a celebration of Scottish heritage in the month of April, the month in which the Declaration of Arbroath was signed in 1320. It originated in Canada in the mid-1980s and of course the Fergus BIA and the Fergus Scottish Festival celebrated the town’s Scottish heritage on April 2 with a host of activities in downtown Fergus.
