Erin boil-water advisory lifted following watermain break
Advisory was lifted on April 26 for 500 homes
ERIN – A boil-water advisory was implemented in Erin village after a watermain break on April 23.
The town notified residents of the precautionary advisory through email and social media channels on the morning of April 23.
Residents living south of Church Boulevard in the village of Erin were advised to boil for at least five minutes any water used for drinking, cooking/eating, washing, making ice and brushing teeth.
“The cause of the watermain issue was a result of a failed distribution valve that stopped working while crews were fixing a water shut-off at a residential home,” stated Ontario Clean Water Agency spokesperson Amy Lane in an email to the Advertiser.
According to Lane, the repair took place April 23 from early afternoon and was completed around 11:30 that evening, with some work continuing early on April 24.
Water samples were collected the morning of April 24 and more were collected 24 and 48 hours later.
The boil-water advisory was lifted on the evening of April 26 and affected approximately 500 homes.
