Drinking and driving
HARRISTON – On Jan. 7 at about 1:15pm, Wellington County OPP officers stopped a suspected impaired driver on King Street.
A 57-year-old Gowanstown man was charged with driving with failure or refusal to provide a breath sample. He is to appear in Guelph court on Jan. 23.
FERGUS – On Jan. 7 at about 10:15pm, a Wellington County OPP officer saw a snowmobile stuck in a ditch on Highway 6.
A 17-year-old from Guelph/Eramosa was charged with driving with more than 80mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood in his system. He is to appear in Guelph court at a later date.
MOUNT FOREST – On Jan. 7 at about 10:40pm, Wellington County OPP officers were conducting a RIDE program on Sligo Road.
Police say officers “found a driver to be operating their vehicle with an open container of liquor.”
A 65-year-old from Mount Forest was charged with driving with an open container of liquor. He is to appear in Guelph court at a later date.
GUELPH – On Jan. 8 at about 8:20pm, Wellington County OPP responded to a complaint about a driver asleep behind the wheel on Silvercreek Parkway.
A 43-year-old Guelph/Eramosa man was charged with driving while impaired by alcohol and drugs and driving with more than 80mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood in his system. He is to appear in Guelph court on Jan. 20.
PUSLINCH – On Jan. 9 at about 4pm, Wellington County OPP officers were conducting a RIDE program at Wellington Road 34 and Brock Road South.
A 31-year-old Flamborough man was charged with driving over 80mg. He is to appear in Guelph court on Jan. 25.
In the above incidents the driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for seven days.
