Donkey Sanctuary holding PACE for the Donkeys Sept. 24

PUSLINCH – Lace up your running shoes and join an exciting and meaningful event – the PACE for the Donkeys 5K Trail Run 2023.

This annual event is set to take place on Sept. 24 at the Donkey Sanctuary of Canada (DSC), promising a day of exhilarating exercise, community engagement, and support for a great cause.

PACE for the Donkeys 5K Trail Run is not just your average running event; it’s a unique opportunity to connect with nature and show support for the well-being of our equine friends.

The event also aims to raise awareness about the importance of animal welfare, particularly donkeys.

Key event highlights

– scenic trail run: participants will run or walk through the trails and fields of the DSC, providing a chance to enjoy the beauty of nature;

– community engagement: this event is a fantastic opportunity to come together as a community and support a cause that matters. Families, friends, and corporate groups are all invited to participate;

– donkey welfare awareness: through PACE for the Donkeys 5K Trail Run, we aim to shed light on the often-overlooked issue of donkey welfare. Funds raised will directly support the care and protection of the donkeys, mules and hinnies who call the DSC home;

– fun-filled activity: the race is timed, but participants are encouraged to go at their own ‘pace’ just as donkeys do!  Aside from a fun run, participants can look forward to meeting some donkeys along the way; and

– commemorative souvenirs: take home a unique event T-shirt and a commemorative medal to remember the day.

“Together, we can help to ensure that every donkey receives the care and respect they deserve,” officials say.

The DSC rescues and rehabilitates donkeys, mules and hinnies who have been neglected, abused, or otherwise need sanctuary.

The DSC also provides resources and education to the public and the equine world about the unique traits and needs of donkeys and donkey-hybrids.
