CWDHS students clean up at Skills Canada national competition

CENTRE WELLINGTON – The Upper Grand District School Board had three students competing at the Skills Canada National Competition in Winnipeg last week and all three were from Centre Wellington District High School (CWDHS).

And all three won gold medals.

Mark Reynolds and Landon Harrison won gold in the 3D Character Computer Animation Competition.

Eric Greig was the teacher/coach for this competition.

And Rachel Driedger won gold in the Workplace Safety Competition.

Jenny Ritter was the teacher/coach for this competition.

Students flew into Winnipeg on May 22, competed on May 25 and 26 and then attended the awards ceremony on May 27.

Provincial win

Team Ontario sent 130 students/teachers/delegates to Winnipeg to compete. 

So not only did these students win for their school and school board, they won for the province as well.

Joanne Harris, coordinator of the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program for the Upper Grand board, applauded the students for their great achievement.

“Their dedication, hard work, and skills have brought them to this remarkable stage, and they should be immensely proud of their achievements,” she said. 

“Through their participation, they have showcased the true essence of perseverance, creativity, and excellence. 

“A big shout out to both teacher coaches as well.

“I travelled to Winnipeg with both Jenny Ritter and Eric Greig from CWDHS and it was so great to see all of their hard work pay off. “
