CRC meeting March 12 to look at legal options in wake of Hidden Quarry LPAT decision

EDEN MILLS – The Concerned Residents Coalition is holding a community meeting on March 12 at 7pm in the Eden Mills Community Hall.

The recent Local Planning Appeals Tribunal (LPAT) decision approving the Hidden Quarry has raised many questions in the community about the rationale for approving a quarry which the CRC contends will have countless negative impacts on the community and environment.

The 39-hectare property at the northeast corner of Highway 7 and 6th Line, south of Rockwood, has been owned by James Dick Construction Limited (JDCL) since 1989.

On Feb. 11, the Local Planning and Appeal Tribunal (LPAT) rendered a decision to approve the “hidden quarry” near Rockwood.

On Feb. 24, Concerned Residents Coalition (CRC) director Dan Kennaley and president Doug Tripp sought council’s support to have the CRC included in a community liaison committee and to keep the group updated regarding the quarry.

At that time, Tripp said the CRC “is doing everything possible at a political level to prevent this interim decision from being made final.”

This upcoming meeting in Eden Mills will provide an opportunity for residents to respond to the decision.

While the event begins at 7pm, doors open at 6:30pm.
