County has picked architect for $2-million Puslinch library

The Wellington County library board selected Grinham Architects of Guelph to build the new Puslinch library.

The board considered two architectural proposals at the Elora library because later that day that building was being recognized with a Certificate of Excellence by Heritage Centre Wellington.

Warden Joanne Ross-Zuj said county council had asked the library committee to choose between two architectural proposals. The Ventin Group was the other bidder.

“Lloyd won,” Ross-Zuj said of Lloyd Grinham. “He had a fine proposal. It is green. He used a number of state-of-the-art ideas.”

The new library, which is budgeted to cost $2-million, will be built at the same time Puslinch Township constructs a new $2.15-million multi-use recreational facility at the same site in Aberfoyle.

“This will be a lovely feature of that streetscape,” Ross-Zuj predicted.

The current Puslinch library was built in 1981, and it now has a leaky roof and mould in it. There are also access issues for washrooms.

Later, all of the library board members were able to attend the announcement by Heritage Centre Wellington recognizing the county for its excellent work on that building.
