Centre Wellington pre-OFSAA results

Centre Wellington District High School (CWDHS) participated in the pre-OFSAA meet at the University of Waterloo Oct. 9.

There were approximately 400 athletes there from all over Ontario who attended and many of them are contenders for OFSAA, to be held on the same course on Nov. 1. The day was highly competitive with large fields of competitors in each division.

Results are as follows:

– third overall girls team;

– first in midget boys – team members were: Eric Morris, Jake Cousineau, Tyler Young and Ryan Thring;

– Morris placed fourth in a field of 600 athletes;

– first in senior girls. Top finisher was Jessica Cuabu.  Team members were Cuabu, Christina Dolderman, Steph Goodyear, Samara Workman and Rebecca Pronk. The other three senior girls did extremely well in a field of 800 runners. They were Laura Bender, Hayley Chase and Avery Moroney.

Elizabeth Teasell placed 20th for junior girls, in a field of 800 athletes, and two midget girls moved up to junior: Laura Hill, and Cecilie Proctor. They joined Esmee Hotson to make up the junior girls team.

The senior boys ran well in a competitive field of 800. Junior Drew Wilson moved up to join them and all the senior boys ran competitively and finished strong. Mark Patton was the fastest and place second.

Other senior boys team members were Lorenzo Definis, Nate Scott and Nick Vrins.

The next meet is at the Fergus Sportsplex. D10, hosted by Lourdes. They are expecting to do very well there and move on to CWOSSA the following week.
