WELLINGTON COUNTY – Book vending machines at sports complexes in Fergus and Mount Forest will be removed in light of low circulation numbers and an abundance of technical problems.

Mapleton approves 2023 budget with 3.9% tax rate increase

MAPLETON – Township council has approved a 2023 budget that will raise the local tax rate by 3.89 per cent for the typical homeowner. The anticipated tax increase for the average residential homeowner will be $18.41 per $100,000 worth of assessment.

MINTO – The impact of the province’s new housing legislation on municipalities may not yet be entirely clear, but it will be significant, suggests a staff report presented to Minto town council on Jan. 31.

Two children seriously injured in Highway 89 crash
