Callie McCullough coming to Fergus Grand

CENTRE WELLINGTON – A modern singer/songwriter inspired by timeless classics, Callie McCullough has chased her unique muse for years, making contemporary roots music that nods to the legends who came before her.

It’s a sound anchored in honest storytelling with a voice reminiscent of Alison Krauss that is stark contrast to her dry humour and larger-than-life personality, officials say.

The Stratford-born McCullough drops by the Fergus Grand Theatre as part of her 2025 Southern Ontario tour on March 22.

Her style is described as a fusion of folk Celtic, bluegrass and traditional country.

“With the vocal chops of an established pro, quick-witted humour and the fighting spirit of an independent musician, she creates a musical tapestry that effortlessly captures classic and rootsy nostalgia, coupled with her own contemporary twists, sharp song writing, and the expressive singing of an artist who has truly found her voice,” states a press release.

“She certainly has,” theatre coordinator Eric Goudie agreed.

“Callie’s songs sound just like the music I grew up listening to in the farm truck on the way to do the chores. She has a vibe, a story, and most of all a voice that wouldn’t feel out of place alongside any of the great women of classic country.”

McCullough’s debut album, After Midnight, featuring first-class picking from members of the Grammy-winning bluegrass band Union Station and western-swing super-group The Time Jumpers —quickly put her on the map, garnering a Canadian Country Music Association Nomination for Alternative Country Album of the Year, and three CMAO Nominations for Roots Artist of the Year, Rising Star and Songwriter of the Year.

She has now teamed up with Grammy nominated producer Dave Brainard to  showcase a new side of her artistry combining grassy textures, soaring melodies, killer harmonies, loose grooves, and catchy hooks into an “infectious and downright refreshing sound”
