FERGUS – In 1953, The Hospital Auxiliary, now known as Groves Hospital Volunteer Association (GHVA), opened their Opportunity Shop on Tower Street, just north of St. Andrew St. 

FERGUS – The Groves Hospital Volunteer Association (GHVA) has a remarkable history of generosity. Originally called “Hospital Aid” when the organization formed in 1933, the GHVA has made an impact on the well-being our community that would be hard to measure. 

ELORA – Kristen Bettiol, the township of Centre Wellington’s manager of community development, is passionate about promoting volunteerism. 

ERIN – The Hillsburgh Erin Skating Club presented its annual figure skating show April 6 and 7 at Centre 2000.

FERGUS – The Blue Bonnet Lassies highland dancers demonstrated their skill on Tartan Day on April 7.

FERGUS – The day before Tartan Day in Fergus, the Fergus Grand Theatre held a Scottish show for children performed by Dufflebag Theatre Productions.

HARRISTON  –  It may be set in a funeral home, but there’s plenty of fun in store for audiences of the Grey Wellington Theatre Guild’s (GWTG)  upcoming production of Gibson and Sons.

FERGUS – As part of his presenting series, coordinator of the Fergus Grand Theatre Eric Goudie presented the performance of Ballet Jorgen on April 5.

ELORA – Raymond Soucy recently retired as executive director of the Centre Wellington Community Foundation and on April 7, he stepped away from his role as chair of the Elora Cataract Trail Association after 16 years in that post.

PALMERSTON - Palmerston and District Hospital Foundation President Earl Campbell was on hand recently to thank the Struyk family and Conestogo Agri Systems for their $100,000 pledge to the foundation’s MRI+ Campaign.

GUELPH – More than 1,000 Grade 4 to 8 students from 59 schools in the Upper Grand District School Board attended the annual Elementary Skills Competition at the University of Guelph on April 2.
