Arnott tables motion asking for inclusion of Morriston bypass in five-year plan

Wellington-Halton Hills MPP Ted Arnott wants Puslinch councillors to know he is still working to keep the Morriston bypass on  the province’s radar.

“I just wanted to let you know that I have again tabled a resolution in the Llegislature to ask the government to put our project on the Ministry of Transportation’s five-year plan,” Arnott said in recent correspondence with the township.

He tabled a private member’s bill on Feb. 19, the first day the legislature resumed sitting. “It is uncertain and unclear as to when we will be able to debate the motion,” he said.

However, Arnott said his objective is to draw attention to the issue before the ministry develops its next five-year plan, which is typically released annually following the provincial budget.

Arnott also intends to bring the resolution to the attention of new Minister of Transportation Glen Murray, and speak to him directly about it.

Arnott’s resolution states, “That, in the opinion of this House, the Minister of Transportation should prioritize the Highway 6 Morriston bypass project by placing it on the Southern Highways Program, the ministry’s five-year investment plan in highway construction for Southern Ontario; and in the short term, support immediate measures to calm highway traffic though Morriston in the Township of Puslinch.”
