All clear: local municipalities lift fire bans

Residents across the county are now free to have fires - provided they follow local regulations - as four municipalities lifted burn bans following significant amounts of rain last weekend and earlier this week.

Minto

The Town of Minto lifted its ban on open air burning on Aug. 15. The fire department reminded residents to continue to follow regulations, including obtaining a burn permit for all fires larger than three metres in diameter and three metres in height. Cooking fires are permitted without a permit as long as they are not more than 0.6m in diameter and 0.6m in height.

Guelph-Eramosa

On Aug. 15 Guelph-Eramosa officials decided to allow small campfires (cooking fires and recreational fires). Two days later, following a large amount of rainfall, the municipality announced the fire ban was completely lifted.

Erin

The Town of Erin lifted its open fire burn  on Aug. 15 “due to recent weekend rain fall and expected rain late Monday night and into Tuesday,” the town website stated.

Puslinch

Township officials announced on Aug. 16 the Puslinch fire ban was completely lifted due to significant rainfall in the area.
