GUELPH/ERAMOSA – On Jan. 9, members of the first 4-H Twiddle Muff club met at the Fraser farm in Ariss.
After everyone was introduced, the members voted on the club’s officers.
Then they discussed what a twiddle muff is and looked at how knitting and crocheting are different.
Twiddle muffs are sensory therapy tools designed for people with dementia.
They are typically knitted or crocheted with colorful yarn with items attached that are meant to be fiddled with.
Members got to look at some twiddle muffs and discuss what they saw.
Afterwards, they learned how to knit ‘the garter stitch’, and by the end had a chance to bring them home to work on.
