Wellington Road 21 revamp costing taxpayers $1 million
Work expected to be complete by end of August
GUELPH – A 4km stretch of Wellington Road 21, an arterial county road through Centre Wellington, is being repaved for $1 million (tax included).
A portion of the road from the Waterloo Region boundary through Inverhaugh will be repaved, along with guide rail upgrades, road tilt and curve adjustments, and intersection improvements, according to a Wellington County staff report.
County council awarded the job to Guelph-based Cox Construction at a council meeting on May 28.
Cox had the lowest of seven bids by about $81,000 and came in $434,000 under the highest bid of $1.37 million from Cambridge-based Branco Construction.
No road closures are expected and the work should be done at the end of August.
