GARDNER, Nancy (Annie)
November 2, 1935 – August 23, 2026
Nancy passed away surrounded by family and the wonderful staff of Caressant Care Arthur, where she had been lovingly cared for over the last eight years. Predeceased by her parents, Daniel and Mary Morrison, her sisters, May Highlands, Jeanie Morrison and Christine Dacey and, also by her husband Wallace Gardner. Nancy is remembered by her children Charles Gardner (Karen), Katherine O’Donnell (Chris) and Dorothy Price (Mark), and her six grandchildren Emma, Alexander, Curtis, Hannah, Isabelle and Lilly. Born in Glasgow Scotland, Nancy ventured to Canada in 1956 at the age of 21. She loved the opportunities for work and the tastes of different food. In 1964 she married Wallace Gardner and they settled into a home in Toronto. The next 10 years brought 3 children and 2 moves out of the city to farm country -a big change for this city girl. Settling into life in Arthur was easy for Nancy as she became active in community activities such as church, sports for the kids and the Agriculture Society. Nancy became known as The Strawberry Lady, as she ran a pick your own strawberry business for many years. A life long lover of school, Nancy took many courses over the years to expand her knowledge in Business, Accounting and Nutrition. She loved baking, sewing, singing in local choirs and quilting. During the retirement years Nancy enjoyed the traveling adventures that her and Wally went on with the local “No Whiners Club” to various European destinations. Family and friends are invited to a service of remembrance for Nancy on October 3, 2026 at Arthur United Church at 11am. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in Nancy’s name to the Alzheimer’s Society. Arrangements entrusted to the Crawford Funeral Chapel, Arthur.
