McRAE, Marguerite (Gibson)
It is with sadness and love that we announce the peaceful passing of Marguerite McRae (nee Gibson) of Moorefield (formerly of Palmerston) on September 11, 2026 in her 96th year. Loving wife of the late Stanley McRae (1996). Cherished mother to Larry (Brenda) McRae of Hanover, Carroll (Bruce), Murray of Moorefield, Lynne (Jack) Watson of Listowel, Joanne (Henry) Blancke of Moorefield, Cathy (Berny) Wesselink of Durham and Bonnie (Sam) Campbell of Ayton. Will be greatly missed by her 15 grandchildren and lovingly remembered by 25 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends. Survived by brother Bob (Ruth) Gibson of Fordwich and sister-in-law Marg Lawrence of Harriston. Marguerite was predeceased her grandson Adam McRae (1998) and her parents Harvey and Inez Gibson, as well as her siblings and their spouses: Clarence and Betty Gibson, Leone and Clarence Carswell, Blake and Mabel Gibson, Ben and Edith Gibson and Frank and Shirley Gibson, mother-in-law and father-in-law Emma and Raymond McRae and brother-in-law Robert Lawrence. Spending time with family was Marguerite’s favourite past-time with gardening taking second place. She will be long remembered for making butter tarts so good they routinely caused light-hearted disputes at family gatherings, where they were treasured, hoarded and hidden for future consumption. Her ready and hearty laugh will be missed by all who knew her. She expressed her love for her family in a multitude of ways and left each one with the assurance that they were loved, important to her and appreciated just as they were. To honour Marguerite’s wishes cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be announced soon. Arrangements entrusted to the Heritage Funeral Home, Palmerston.
