Wellington County recruits receive fire training in Fergus

Fire training – Twenty Wellington County firefighter recruits participated in a training day on March 7 at the Fergus fire station. The recruits worked on forcible entry skills. They learned how to force their way into structures that have doors that are locked, bolted and otherwise secured.

“We do this to not only assist with rescuing trapped occupants, but primarily to provide a second means of egress for firefighter working inside buildings during structure fires,” said Wellington County fire training officer Charles Hamilton.

The recruits also received an overview of fire cause and determination.
