Snowbirds flyover on Sunday will include portion of Wellington County

Delayed from Saturday, 'Operation Inspiration' may be visible from portions of Puslinch, Guelph-Eramosa, Erin, Centre Wellington

WELLINGTON COUNTY – Residents living in some areas of south Wellington may want to step outside and look up on Sunday afternoon.

The Canadian Forces Snowbirds will be flying from London to Barrie on May 10 as part of the squadron’s “Operation Inspiration,” a cross-country tour saluting Canadians for doing their part during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Sunday flyovers were rescheduled from Saturday due to unfavourable weather conditions.

The nine-jet formation will depart London at about 4:15pm and fly over Stratford, Kitchener, Cambridge, Guelph, Orangeville/Caledon, Collingwood and Barrie, landing at about 5:15pm.

The Snowbirds’ flightpath indicates the aerial display could be viewed by some residents living in southern Wellington County, including Puslinch (near its borders with Cambridge, Guelph-Eramosa and Guelph), Guelph-Eramosa (on either side of Guelph) and Erin (mostly the west side of the municipality). Depending on the exact path, it may also be visible from a portion of southeast Centre Wellington.

We encourage Canadians to observe the flyovers from the safety of their home and refrain from travelling to see the flyovers,” Snowbirds officials stated on social media.

“Please maintain physical distancing practices that are keeping us all safe.”

Route details/times may change so those interested are encouraged to follow the Snowbirds’  Facebook and Twitter pages for updates.
