Residents of Minto offered free fruit trees

The Trees for Minto committee is offering pear and apple trees for sale at the cost of $10 each to the residents of Minto to commemorate Canada’s 150th anniversary.

A maximum of three trees per household is in place and only 150 trees will be available.

“Fruit trees produce fruit for people, birds and bees to enjoy, and also provide blossoms, fragrance and shade in the summertime. Fruit trees are fairly easy to grow and require relatively little care,” states a March 22 press release from the committee.

The Trees for Minto Committee will also be planting 150 fruit and nut trees and bushes on walking trails and outside of community gardens for all of the public to enjoy.
