REPORTER’S NOTEBOOK: Connections

Word has it that both Mayor Mike Broomhead and Upper Grand School Board trustee  candidates Doris French were asked to leave the advance polls last weekend  in Mount Forest as they were found hanging around and greeting people.

An email sent to the Wellington Advertiser included to photos of candidate vehicles parked at the Mount Forest Community Centre. It stated the vehicle owners were asked to leave the polling station by the DRO. The individual who took these pictures on a cell phone was waiting to vote and also noticed the following:

Broomhead parked his vehicle near the centre’s entrance around 10:40am remained on the premises engaging individuals in front of the building, in the foyer, and in the arena until he was asked to remove himself and his vehicle at approximately 11:20am.  French arrived somewhat later and was also asked to remove herself and the vehicle bearing the logo of mayoralty candidate Janice Lewis also at approximately 11:20am.

On a more humorous note [or more frightening to myself], were the candidates at meetings who’d noted that they’d recently met with my parents while they were out on the campaign trail.

Then again, over Thanksgiving, my parents gave me the once over as to what I thought about various candidates in Wellington North.

They now live up in the area and knew I’d seen the politicians over the long haul, and not just at various candidate nights.
