Peacefully, at Groves Memorial Community Hospital, surrounded by the love of family. John faced his journey with cancer with remarkable courage, strength, and dignity. Cherished son of Berney (2025) and Gwen. Beloved brother of Dan, Kevin, and Ann-Marie (Manny). Dearest Uncle John to Kaitlyn and Brooke Goodfellow, and Erika (Rob) Boyes, remembered by Willem Sytsma. John was a quiet and reserved man who met each day with positivity, acceptance, and genuine care for others. His legacy leaves with us an important lesson: choose kindness, be accepting, and never take for granted the people we love. Memories of his gentle spirit, his quiet reassurance “I’m good” and the kindness he showed to others will remain with all who knew him. The family extends heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all who cared for and supported John and his family throughout his life journey. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 10:30am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 760 St. David St. N., Fergus, Ontario. Interment will immediately follow at St. Mary/St. Joseph Cemetery, 343 Wellington Rd. 7, Elora, Ontario. All are welcome to join the family for a reception afterward in the Church Hall. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to the Centre Wellington Food Bank or the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul would be appreciated by the family.
