Protesters rally to "Say No To Nestle" on anniversary of moratorium decision
Residents of Guelph, Elora, Erin and Hillsburgh will rally outside the office of Liberal MPP Liz Sandals on the one year anniversary of the provincial moratorium on applications for permit to take water for bottling in Ontario.
The same moratorium postponed Nestlé’s application for a new well in Middlebrook until January 2019.
On Oct. 13, the “Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Aquifers” will perform “Wynne or Lose”, street theatre to tell Premier Wynne now is the time to Say No To Nestlé in Wellington County and to phase out permits to bottle water in Ontario.
Three characters - Snidely Bigwater, Little Miss Middlebrook, and “Premier Kathleen Wynne” – will perform a five minute skit that shows with humour and wit the moral choice Kathleen Wynne faces in protecting local groundwater.
The rally is co-sponsored by Wellington Water Watchers and Save Our Water.
A second press release by Save Our Water states that hundreds of signs are are appearing across Centre Wellington and Erin/Hillsburgh.
The signs call on Kathleen Wynne to stop further permits for commercial water bottling. Signs are available by emailing the saveourwater.ca website and requesting one with an address.
